Beatrice Cross
“Gone from our lives, but not from our heartsâ€
Our mother, Beatrice Cross, passed away in the early hours of August 27, 2015 at the age of 82, after a valiant and courageous struggle. Mom was predeceased by our father, Robert Cross (1981). We, her children: Greg (Wendy), Jeanette Frank, Ken (Eve) and Cynthia (John Loeprich) will greatly miss her presence in our lives. Mom took great pride in her 9 grandchildren and was a wonderful Nana to Robert, Michael, Jennifer, Alex, Laura, Samantha, Sabrina, Taylor and Kaitie. Over the past year she felt blessed to become a great grandmother to Hali and Ethan. Mom was a model of strength, courage and resiliency. For 45 years she was an active member of the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary. Even when her health failed, she would honour her commitment to the Auxiliary and do her weekly shift. It pained her to succumb to her illness and no longer participate in the many things that she had previously enjoyed. Mom had a passion for life. She loved a game of cards, Scrabble, reading, lawn bowling, swimming, taking long walks around the Mill Pond and spending time with family. It was evident by the many visitors she had both at home and in hospital that her circle of friends was endless. Over the past several weeks Mom was often referred to as a wonderful woman and an inspiration. Mom always paid attention to detail. As the ‘sands of time’ were running out, Mom was proactive to ensure that everything was in order. She took comfort in knowing that long time family friends, Ruth and Stuart McPhail from Durham, Ontario would be there to support us and handle the necessary arrangements upon her passing. A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held for Mom on Sunday September 27, 2015 in the Main Level Hall at St. Paul’s United Church, Milton, Ontario from 12 – 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Mom requested that donations be made to the Milton District Hospital Auxiliary. Donations can be entrusted through the McPhail’s at Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services (1-877-991-9995). Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com
