Yvonne Robinson
On November 15, 2016 at John Joseph Place in Owen Sound, death came peacefully to Yvonne Robinson while surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1937 in Burgessville, Ontario to parents James and Mary Shipp, Yvonne grew up in Woodstock as one of nine children. Following her graduation as a registered nurse and her marriage to David Robinson, a young doctor from Guelph, the newlyweds moved to Meaford in 1958. Yvonne wasted little time in becoming an active member of the Meaford community, raising a family and working alongside Dave in his medical practice. Yvonne was well known for her tenacity, her loyalty to friends, her strong opinions and her fierce pride in her children. Yvonne was an active volunteer for many community organizations over the years, including the Meaford Hospital Auxiliary, the Grey County Kiwanis Music Festival, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Pottawatomi Spinners and Weavers Guild, and more recently the Bluewater Association for Lifelong Learning (BALL). Much loved and forever missed by her husband, David, their four children and spouses: Paul (Rochelle Dworkin), Patricia (the late David Doran), Stephen (Tracie Seedhouse) and Susan (David Thomas), and her eight grandchildren. A celebration of Yvonne’s life is planned for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the Inn on the Bay, Owen Sound. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of John Joseph Place for their compassionate and deeply human support of Yvonne over her time in their care. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com.
