Linus (Len) Zettler
Passed away at the Southampton Hospital with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Linus was born in Walkerton on November 20, 1927. He is survived by his daughter Joyce (Dale) Nisker and grandchildren Jenna and Brandon, all of Calgary. Brother of Betty Guillett, Lorraine (Toivo) Sepp, Kenneth (Sharon) Zettler and Dianne Kidman, all of Bruce County. Brother-in-law of John Shulhan of Saskatoon and Nancy Zettler of Hanover. He will be missed by god-daughter Tammy Hopkins, many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends and also Babe and Sophie, his trusted friends. Linus had a special family with Peter, Robyn, Drew and Madeline Meerveld of Guelph. Betty Mulholland was Linus’ companion for many years. Predeceased by his wife Gladys (née Knischewsky), parents Leo and Catherine (née Sidle) Zettler, siblings Agnes (Elmer) Hoffart, Rita, Clarence, Helen Shulhan, Isobelle and Eddie and brothers-in-law Dave Kidman and Bob Guillett. Linus resided in Waterloo, then spent the last 3 years at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin. He worked for Lackie Bros. for 63 years and belonged to the Ironworkers Union #736. He was also a member of the Navy Club and he held the title of champion for shuffleboard (still in his eighties). A celebration of life will be held in Port Elgin at a later date. Many thanks to the staff at Elgin Lodge, the 2nd floor nursing staff at Southampton Hospital, all support workers and especially Dr. Andrew Jeffery who went above and beyond for Linus.
