Murray Cobean

Murray George Cobean of Saugeen Township died at his home on October 16, 2021, at the age of 65. Murray was the son of the late R.J. and Valeria Cobean. He is survived by his brother Bob, and his wife Lois; his sister Donna, and her husband Mike (Smith) of Saugeen Township. He will be fondly remembered as ‘Uncle Murray’ to Ronna, Diane, Steve, Crystal, Becky and Sarah.

Murray grew up on the family farm on the Gowanlock Sideroad and attended S.S. #7 and Port Elgin Public School. He went on to graduate from Saugeen District Secondary School. After high school Murray started working at the Port Elgin arena and in 1979 he began a 27-year career with the LCBO where he was always a friendly, knowledgeable face.

Murray (“Beaner”) was a diehard Montreal Canadians fan and will be fondly remembered for his remarkable athletic ability on the ball diamond and the hockey rink. He loved hunting, being in the outdoors and spent many mornings at the mouth of the Saugeen River.

A memorial will be held to celebrate Murray’s life at a later date.   Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
