Frances Drake

43 years old

To her family, she was the highly creative elder with her father’s namesake, Frances Marie Drake. To her Geocaching friends in many countries, she was known as a legendary, “The Tribal Dancer”.  Recently turned 73, Fran passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, February 1, 2022.  Fran, the first female Mechanical Maintainer from Bruce Power, filled her retirement years with many works of charity, from building homes in South America, filling countless shoebox gifts using her seamstress skills, housing foreign exchange students to leaving books, art works and painted stones in various spots around Port Elgin or Southampton. Whilst enjoying a wonderful life full of spirit, exploring various art forms, travel, photography and with an irrepressible zest for adventure, she shared her Masters level Feng Shui and Reiki, kayaking, camping, her love of drumming, quilting and other hobbies with friends and family, far and wide.  Fran leaves behind her loving and attentive daughter Diana and grandson Cameron, all five siblings, Mary, Ken, Marilyn, Richard, Joanne, their spouses, many nieces and nephews, and special cousins from the DiRenzo and Drake families, all who will miss her quirky email games, puzzles, challenges and prizes, as she entertained us throughout the Covid lockdowns and just for fun!  The family extends a special heartfelt thank you to her Caching friend Bibianne, Huron Shores Hospice, the VON and the health care professionals from Voyago Transit, who appreciated Fran’s sense of humour as they cared for her with dignity.  In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated at https://www.huronshoreshospice.ca/donate or https://cancer.ca/en/.  Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com.
