John Thomas Stein died in his sleep March 2nd, 2022 at his home in Chesley, Ontario with his wife Susan by his side. John loved hockey and being on the ice. He cherished the camaraderie with multiple teams, including Bruce Wings Hockey! He enjoyed his last three games this week. John attended Seneca College to earn his degree in Turf Management. He started his career at the Ladies’ Golf Club of Toronto where he met the love of his life, Susan Hobson. John’s knowledge of the Golf Industry was unparalleled. It was his passion, and the industry has lost a leader. For many years, John devoted his time and energy to grooming and staking trails for the Southampton Snowmobile Club. He was in his element, enjoying his ski-doo trips with his son, Thomas, and his fellow sledders. So when you are out enjoying a ride on the trails around Southampton, tip your visor to a fellow enthusiast. John was definitely an all seasons sportsman. Out of his multiple motorcycles, his favourites were his Harley Street Glide and Night Train. It was tough for him to find time to ride in the summer months, as John was the hardest working person many of us have ever known. From sun up to sun down, he worked tirelessly from March to October at the Southampton Golf Course. His tenacity, passion, commitment, and conscientiousness is unmatched. John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susan; son, Thomas (Paige); stepson, Gavin (Chelsea); brothers, Steve, Keith (Vicki), and KJ; as well as 7 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Raeanne and father, Keith. A celebration of John’s life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated.
