Philip (Phil) Royall

It is with deep sadness that our family announces the passing of Philip (Phil) Edward Royall in Owen Sound on June 30, 2022. Phil will be lovingly remembered as a friend, son, brother, cousin, uncle and nephew. Phil is survived by his mother, Glenda Royall and his three siblings, Sandra Ball (Gerald), Brian (Tanya) Royall and Steve Royall. He is predeceased by his father, Paul Royall.  As a son, Phil will be forever remembered as dedicated, loving and compassionate. Phil spent his last years supporting and enabling his parents to remain living independently in their Owen Sound home. As a brother, Phil will always be remembered as kind, big hearted and supportive. The suddenness of his death has left all of us with a feeling of incredible sadness. There is a void in our hearts where Phil used to be. Phil was born in Scarborough Ontario and grew up with his family and many friends in a wonderful neighborhood. Many of our memories of Phil are of those years of street hockey, pickup basketball, and football. Phil was a natural athlete. Phil continued his education, graduating from the Ontario Collage of Art and Design. During his high school and OCAD years, Phil developed many friendships including that of his lifelong friends Chris Haindl and David Roney. Phil was thankful to have Chris and David visiting and speaking with him during his final weeks.  Phil lived an exceptionally healthy life and it is with disbelief that we all try to accept how someone so healthy and strong could become so ill so quickly. It will take time for this to be absorbed and better understood. For now, Phil’s friends and family have each other to support and to share wonderful memories. Phil (to the end) was a student of life. Constantly researching and studying. We will miss his big smile, his big heart and his passion for embracing life.  A special thank you to the compassion and care that was provided to Phil during his last few weeks spent at the Grey Bruce Health Services. The hard work and compassion of the staff was simply inspiring.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
