Stuart Neil McPhail

Stuart McPhail of Durham passed away peacefully, after a valiant battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 59. Stuart was a licensed funeral director and along with his wife Ruth, they established Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services in 2003. He was an avid beekeeper for 30 years and was in his glory when tending to his bees. Beloved husband and best friend of Ruth (née Bell) for 34 years. Loving and devoted father of Laura and her husband Travis Braeker and Julie McPhail. Cherished grandpa of Sophie. Son of Marion McPhail. Brother of John (Catherine) McPhail and family and Doug (Diane) McPhail and family. Also survived by his mother-in-law Catherine Bell, sister-in-law Heather (Bjorn) Andersen and family and brother-in-law Derek Bell. He will be sadly missed by his good friends, Wayne, Bruce, Marvin, Doug M “Cowboy” and Doug R and his beekeeping colleagues Murray and Jim. Predeceased by his father Jim McPhail and father-in-law John M. Bell. A Memorial Come and Go for Stuart will be held at the Homestead Resort, 263530 Southgate Township Road 26 (on Wilder Lake, Southeast of Durham), on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 1 – 4 p.m. with tributes and memories at 2 p.m. Interment Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Durham.
