Robert H. (Smiley) Richards

Robert H. (Smiley) Richards of Arkwright passed away January 22, 2023 in his 67th year after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.  Beloved husband of Anna Marie (nee Legge).  Loving father of Greg (Brooke), Chris (Angela) and Katrina (Cody).  Proud Grumpy of Damien, Tanner, Ryan and Elizabella.  Survived by sisters Joan (Jim Ruth), Freeda (Ken Davidson), Betty (Don Duff) and Bonnie (Jim Cavil) and brother-in-law Adrian Legge.  Will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his parents Harvey and Ella Richards, his sisters Faye Stevenson, Nancy Cutting and Jean Kirkland.  Bob was a farmer all his life.  When not farming the family farm at Arkwright he was working for Partner Ag helping other farmers by installing and servicing their back barn equipment.  Of course, anyone knowing Bob knew that when it was hunting season Bob was not in the barn.  He loved to hunt and he would hunt anywhere he could and during all hunting seasons.  In his younger years he belonged to Junior Farmers.  He received his nickname ‘Smiley’ while playing broomball for Paisley and the Kilsyth Flyers.  More recently he enjoyed camping and sitting around the campfire passing out shots.   A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  In his memory donations to the Tara Splash Pad (c/o Municipality of Arran-Elderslie) or the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (Palliative Care) would be greatly appreciated as your expression of sympathy.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
