John Tipping
With his immediate family by his side, John Tipping passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario on Sunday, December 10, 2023, in his 86th year.
John was born in London, England on March 26, 1938. John was the beloved husband of Rose Tipping (nee Cope) of 60 years, currently of South Bruce Peninsula. Dear father of Lindsey Glover (Gord) of South Bruce Peninsula and Kim Hooey (Mark) of Clavering. Loving grandfather to Trent (Kate), Cameron (Brooke), Taylor, Clayton, and Terran and great-grandfather to Macey, Charley, and Jaxon.
Fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Tony (Rosina) of England. Special uncle to Tracy (Jim) of Elliot Lake, Lise (Frank) of Waterdown, Helen and Stephen of England. Predeceased by his parents Rose and Robert Tipping, and brother Roy.
John immigrated with his wife, two daughters and his mother to Canada in 1981 and lived in Newmarket for 9 years before moving to South Bruce Peninsula in 1990. John was a hard worker in the trades as an Auto Body Repairman. He appreciated fine cars and was detail oriented. In his younger days, John enjoyed golf, fishing, taking photos, bird watching and soccer, travelling with Rose to many countries and being snowbirds in Florida for a number of winters.
Later in his years John started to enjoy cooking, lawn bowling as a spectator, playing cards and learning how to keep up with technology to communicate over skype with family and friends near and far. He always looked forward to his Sunday chats. Most of all, John was the grandkids biggest fan, in the front row with his cap on at all events.
John was a fighter to the end. He battled several health issues for many years beating the odds each time. He was referred to as the man (cat) with 9 lives and made it to life 26!!!. His determination and will to live will be remembered by many, (especially those that had to get his weekly lotto tickets)!
John’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and all the staff at Brightshores – Wiarton Hospital, Grey County Community Paramedics as well as the doctors, nurses and staff in the Critical Care Trauma Center at Victoria Hospital, London.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring with interment at Boyd Cemetery, Shallow Lake. Memorial donations may be made in John Tipping’s name to the Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation (Wiarton Site).
