Ronald Smart

Ron passed away peacefully at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on December 2, 2023 at the age of 83.  Loved husband of Velma (Burrows) for 58 years.  Loving dad of Timothy Smart of Langley, BC and Pamela York (Chris) of Thorold, Ontario.  Grandfather of Michael, Brett, Joey, Jonathon and James.  Great grandfather of several grandchildren.  Survived by brothers Allan and Sam, sisters Nancy and Mabel Jeffrey (Don) and sisters-in-law Ina Smart, Betty Kole and Mary Patience.  Ron is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his parents Daniel T.F. and Agnes “Nan” (Stevenson) Smart, his sisters Georgina Jones (Bob), Donna Pugh (David) and Margaret Smart (1957), his brothers Albert and Daniel, his sisters-in-law Jennie and Evelyn Smart and his brother-in-law Jim Burrows. The family expresses a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Lee Manor for their exceptional care, compassion and thoughtfulness given to Ron.  Cremation has taken place.  Interment of ashes in Greenwood Cemetery will take place at a later date.  If so desired, memorial donations to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6, Owen Sound would be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.
