Lois Ward
June 15, 1944 – February 9, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Evelyn Ward announces her passing on February 9th, 2024, at the age of 79, following a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Lois is survived by her 2 children, Jehanne Finlay and Jesse Ward (Melisa Berner). A proud grandmother to her 3 grandchildren Ava, Gavin, and Tessa. Beloved sister to Marjorie Casselman (Lyle Casselman) and John Buchanan of Owen Sound. Lois grew up in Sarnia, Owen Sound, and Guelph. As a single mother Lois worked extremely hard to provide for her family and spent her career working alongside healthcare staff at the Guelph General Hospital, CarePartners Owen Sound, and the Owen Sound Hospital. A long goodbye is never easy, Lois fought hard against Alzheimer’s for over ten years, and although Lois is now at peace, her family and grandchildren will miss her dearly. A private family service will be held at Balsam Grove Cemetery in Oliphant, where Lois’ parents Jack and Evelyn Buchanan lay to rest. Oliphant was near and dear to the Buchanan clan and Lois always spoke fondly of her time spent in the area. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Lois’ honour to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce (www.alzheimer.ca/greybruce) or the Alzheimer Society of Canada (www.alzheimer.ca). The family also extends their thanks to Lee Manor for the care given to Lois over the last nine years. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.
