May 5, 1954 – July 22, 2024

With heavy hearts the family of John Hogg are saddened with the passing of a man we all knew as kind and giving. He took his heart and health issues he managed over the past few years with grace and always good humour, as perfectly said by his daughter Crystal. He never wanted to worry his family. John is survived by his loving wife Jackie, two children Brian and Crystal, his sister Lynda and brother Fred and his stepson Derek. Also survived by his stepmom Willa. Proud Papa to his granddaughters Leah (Crystal) and Everly (Derek). Loving uncle to Jesse (Lynda and Mike) and Katy, Julie, Sandra and Ron (Fred and Darlene). Predeceased by his Mom Sandi and Dad Jim.

John was born and raised in Mississauga (Cooksville). He attended high school at T.L. Kennedy Secondary where he was very active in football (tight end) and wrestling. He then worked as an Electrical Apprentice following in his grandfather’s footsteps. He eventually became an Electrical Inspector at the Electrical Safety Authority. John enjoyed most all sports but was especially passionate about Racquetball, he coached kids baseball, running marathons, skydiving, was the owner of some “very cool vintage cars”, traveling and camping with their trailer, snowmobiling and volunteered at the Summerfolk Festival overseeing their electrical onsite. One of his proud accomplishments was being in charge of the electrical at the Hamilton CFL Grey Cup in 1999 at the Ivor Wynne Stadium.

Eventually John and Jackie followed in his Mom and sisters footsteps and moved to the Owen Sound area enjoying their retirement at the Lutheranch in Holland Centre where he will be greatly missed by the seasonal and permanent residents. The family would like to thank his wonderful friends Lloyd and Joyce and John and Jackie’s neighbours for all of their support the last few years.

John was well liked and respected by everyone he met professionally, very loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He definitely made a mark and impression on everyone he met.

John did not want a funeral. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services. A celebration of life will be held and will be determined at a later date.

Condolences for John Hogg
