Brenda O’Connor
In loving memory of Brenda Ann O’Connor of Port Elgin, who passed away peacefully, on October 1, 2024, at Gateway Haven in Wiarton with family by her side. Brenda was born in Peterborough on March 6, 1945, to Francis (Whitworth) McKinley and Donald McKinley. Brenda, the beloved wife of the late Leonard O’Connor. Brenda and Len enjoyed many happy years together in both Chesley and Port Elgin where they raised their family and took part in many community activities. They always loved a good dance together and you would always catch them on the dance floor when they could. I’m sure that’s the first thing they will do as they meet once again. Brenda was the proud mother to Jenice O’Connor, Kerry (O’Connor) Van Sickle and her husband Brett Van Sickle and Kelly O’Connor and his wife Priscilla Reid. Loving grandma to Ashley (Reid) Parks and her husband Kyle Parks, Shelby Van Sickle, Hannah O’Connor and Lyndsey Van Sickle. Brenda truly enjoyed being part of her grandchildren’s lives and was always excited to celebrate their accomplishments. She also had many grand pups throughout the years and was always happy to look after them. Brenda was an amazing cook and baker and she always looked forward to cooking for the ones she loved. There were many regular Sunday dinners where the family gathered to enjoy her incredible dishes. She had a huge bell collection in which she had on display as a memory not only from her travels but also from many friends and family. Brenda enjoyed many social events and spending time with her friends from TOPS and The Red Hat Society. Brenda was very strong, our little bionic woman, but sadly these last couple of years have been tough on her with various health problems. However, she always had a positive attitude and smile on her face. Brenda will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
