Peter Koebel

Peter A. Koebel passed away peacefully on Friday, November 22, 2024, at the Hanover and District Hospital. He was 80.  Born in Hanover to the late Leonard and Redempta Koebel. Peter enjoyed working as the Custodian at Holy Family School. His passion was harness racing. He spent his retirement years being the track man at Hanover Raceway and racing his horses.  He leaves behind his best friend and partner of forty-eight years Gail Murray, one son Michael Murray and grandson Myles.  Also survived by brother Paul (Carol) Koebel, sister-in-law Barb Koebel and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers John, Charles and Michael and sisters Margaret and Bernadette.  At Peter’s request, cremation has taken place and there will not be a service.  Memorial donations to the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.  And this is Peter’s wish, “If you meet someone on the street, smile and ask them how they are.
