Surrounded by family and love, Richard John MacLeod passed away peacefully at Chapman House, Owen Sound on Friday, November 8, 2024, in his 78th year.  Richard was born in Owen Sound on December 7, 1946, son of the late John A. MacLeod and Dorothy Anne MacLeod (nee Murphy).  Loving husband of 50 years to Fay MacLeod of Desboro.  Loving father of Lisa Cook (Andy) of Owen Sound, Denise Owens (Chris) of Paisley and Tina MacLeod (Clint) of Tara. Grandfather of Corbin, Carlin, Cavin (Emma) and Currin Cook, Samantha (Tom) Voisin, Matthew (Jodi) Owens, Tyler and Kaylin Mustard. Great grandfather to Aislyn Mustard.  Brother of Barbara Anne (Jim) Walter, Bill (Kathy) MacLeod, the late Robert MacLeod (Janet) and the late Donald MacLeod (Julie).

Rick enjoyed his family time with Fay, the girls, their spouses and his grandchildren.  His great granddaughter Aislyn always brought a smile to his face.  He also cherished his time with old friends from his Dodge City Flyers Hockey team, years of car shows, riding motorcycles, his years working at PPG and the many friends in his small community of Desboro, where he was known as ” Sambo.”  Rick loved to have a beer and share stories.  Rick was quite particular on how things should be done, had strong views of this world and its rights and wrongs. Rick decided early on in his fight with cancer that he was doing it his way, with strength and stubbornness.  He fought his short battle never losing his sense of humour.  In his last few days, he was surrounded with love, family and friends sharing tears and laughter and at peace with his decision and sending us all his love.

Please join us to celebrate this great man and share the memories on Sunday, December 8, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Owen Sound Legion.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Chapman House, the Canadian Cancer Society or an Animal Shelter of your choice would greatly be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.

Condolences for Richard MacLeod
