Ola Young
Ola Marie Lillian Young (nee Stewart) passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 1, 2025, at the age of 86. She is survived by her children, Russell (Josie) of Keady, Darlene Doig (Paul) of Alberta, Brian (Tracy) of Coburg, Carol Kilday (Kenny) of Port Elgin, Mary Miller (Sam) of Meaford and Allen (Denise) of Wiarton and son-in-law Herb Charlton. Ola was blessed with over 55 grandchildren and great grandchildren that loved her dearly.
She is also survived by her siblings, Walter (Luella), Melinda (Jim) and Lesley (Dory) and her in-laws, Pat, Terry, Janice and Karen. She is predeceased by her daughter, Louise Charlton of Owen Sound, parents, Elmer and Aileen (nee Chappell), her sisters, Shirley and Millie Swick, her brothers, Carl, David, Tom and Elmer, and her brother-in-law, Joe.
Ola was a vibrant and active individual who always kept herself busy. She raised seven children of her own and provided care for numerous other children over the years to families in the Port Elgin area. During her lifetime, she dedicated 15 years to her work with the Red Cross and served as a crossing guard. She actively participated in various community service committees within her building, her church, and the Salvation Army.
Ola cherished her family and found joy in reading, traveling, and knitting beautiful creations for her loved ones. She was the heart and soul of our family, and her love, wisdom, and kindness will continue to inspire generations to come. She leaves behind a rich legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her. Her absence will be profoundly felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
