John Morrow

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Dear husband, father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.  John passed away peacefully at home on July 19th, 2018.  Surrounded by love with his girls by his side in his 78th year. John was a good Christian man known for his sense of humour, never taking himself too seriously, and was always ready with a good comeback. He will be remembered for so many things: strawberries, road hockey (he never lost a Stanley Pot), school bus driver, airport attendant, farmer, milk man, plumber, teacher, etc. with a strong faith guiding his daily life.  He was a calm, gentle man who only raised his voice when he was told that one of his girls needed a different car, “What do you mean we need to buy her another car?” He was part of a special group of card players, with lots of laughter around the table, where no one ever cheated!

Beloved husband to Judy (nee Graham) of 48 years. Father of Erin (Jeff) Horseman and Sara (Adam) Morrow-Wilson.  Special grandfather of his hockey team, Matthew, Brayden, and Jayson Horseman, Abby, Janie and Jude Wilson. Brother of Earl (Faye) Morrow, Leone Gingrich and Mae Maas all of Southampton. Predeceased by parents Almer and Winnifred Morrow, parents- in-law Stanley Graham, Bernice (Welland) Stonehouse, as well as brothers, Jimmy and Kenny Morrow and in laws, Jack Gingrich, Ken Maas, Terry Graham and Elsie Morrow.  He is lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews as well as their families here in Ontario as well as in Manitoba.  They were often his competition during road hockey and kept him on his toes many a halloween night. Sunday morning conversations were often around the game the night before, although it was usually pretty quiet when the Canadiens were the victors.  Go Habs Go!

He loved his family, friends, Church and community.  A faithful member and retired Elder of Knox Presbyterian Church in Burgoyne and could always be found at every function at the West Arran Community Centre. He enjoyed spending time with his close friends, Merv Ziegler, Fred Catherwood and Murray Trask, as well as many others.  He recently enjoyed a visit from Janessa and her family who were like family to him.

A short (in total John style) Service to Celebrate his life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church, Burgoyne on Tuesday, August 7th at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by special friend and Minister Rev. Chuck Moon.

In John’s memory, the family requests that donations be made towards his granddaughter’s, Janie’s Hug Fund, in support of her needs as she deals with the impact of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome or Knox Presbyterian Church Burgoyne – General fund.
