Freda MacDonnell

MacDonnell Photo

August 24, 1934 – December 9, 2022

Today we remember Freda Ellen MacDonnell (nee Daniel) in her 89th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Don, children Kimberlee Broomfield and Jeffery MacDonnell and sister Joyce Armstrong. Fondly remembered by her children Pamela Kinchen and Harvey MacDonnell (Dana). Cherished by her grandchildren Jennifer and Jessica Dolphin, Amy Pilon (Rob), Aaron Buckton (Will), Ayla Kinchen (Corey), Jeff Kinchen and Klayton and Kassidy MacDonnell and her great grandchildren Alora and Andrew Pilon, Anika and Aurora Hale and Nyla Polachuk-Dolphin.  Freda was a famous hooker… of rugs; she travelled North America as an expert instructor for thousands of rug-hooking students. She specialized and was a great authority in the primitive folk art style of rug hooking. A collector at heart, Freda spent times as the curator for the Meaford Museum and she operated the successful Yesteryear’s Antiques business. Freda had an affinity for all things yesteryear and prided herself on being the family historian. A visit to Gramma Freda was spent labelling antiques, keeping busy alongside her while dying wool, or doing fun projects and best of all treasure hunting with her.  She made the best out of any situation and largely employed herself – anyone who knew her could attest to her being The Boss – and her ‘tell it like it is’ perspective will be missed.  The family will hold a come and go tea at the Bognor Hall on Saturday, December 17th from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Please feel free to drop in and enjoy a drink and a story.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.

Condolences for Freda MacDonnell
