1936 – 2025

It is with deep sadness that the family of Don Sanderson announces his passing in his 89th year on Monday, March 3, 2025 at Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound. Don was born on December 8, 1936 in Kitchener and spent his childhood in Kitchener-Waterloo and where he attended elementary and high school. Don worked for 34 years with Canada Customs (Canada Border Service Agency), serving many offices in Southwestern Ontario.

Beloved husband and best friend for 53 years of Phoebe (Wilson) Sanderson. Dearly loved father of Michael and Thomas (Emily). Survived by sisters-in-law Vida Winegarden and Sharon Lowe and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Predeceased by his parents J. Russell (1959) and Anna (Morlock) (1992) Sanderson, infant daughter Amy Catherine (1980), brother J. Douglas Sanderson (2019), twin sister Doreen (2015) and her husband Gordon Smith (2004).  Also predeceased by his in-laws Joseph (1950) and Jean (Morrow) (1981) Wilson and brother-in-law Keith Wilson (2007).

Don was a kind, caring, gentle soul who lived his life with dignity and grace. Cremation has taken place.  At Don’s request there will be no visitation or funeral service. If desired, donations may be made to Sleeping Children of the World, Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation, the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.  Messages of condolence to the family may be made online at greybrucecremation.com.
