Kimberley Swartz
It is with great sadness that we announced the sudden passing of our precious mother, Kimberley Ann Swartz/Duncan of Durham, with her family by her side at Chapman House on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in her 62nd year, after a short battle with lung cancer. Beloved daughter of Hazel Vessie (deceased), chosen daughter of Dearl (deceased) and Elva Vessie. Loving and cherished mother of Hazel-Ann Swartz (Matt), Debra-Lee Swartz (Andrew), and Courtney Paylor (Jay). Cherished Grandmother of Hailey, Desmond, Vincent, Carter, Emmett, and Aria. Dear sister of Gene Duncan (Elizabeth), Kenneth Duncan (Patricia), David Duncan (Vicki), Barry Duncan (Carolyn), and Wayne Duncan. Extended family of Debra Vessie, Earl (Diane) Vessie, Bonnie (Ed) Franken, Alvin (Rachel) Vessie, and Teresa (Greg) Ferrier. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews.
Mom was known for her witty and smart remarks that would make everyone smile. You would often see Mom with one of her beloved grandchildren by her side, enjoying the races at Full Throttle Motor Speedway sipping away on her Timmies. She loved antique car shows as she appreciated the classics. Mom looked forward to her weekends and river runs with her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place. A private funeral service was held on Tuesday April 29, 2025. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Chapman House, Owen Sound (greybrucehospice.com) would be greatly appreciated by Kim and her family. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
Kim walked in light
A steady flame
A heart so kind, it warmed her name
A mother’s strength and sister’s cheer
Her love remains, forever near
She didn’t fade- she rose instead
To skies of gold, where angels tread
Kim’s laughter dances in the breeze
Her peace is found in rustling trees
Though we may miss Kim’s gentle face
She left us wrapped in love and grace
And every dawn in light anew
We feel Kim’s smile come shining through
