Marilyn Nissen
December 02, 1946 – June 15, 2025
Marilyn Joan Nissen passed away peacefully, in Meaford, surrounded by loving family and friends. Born in Toronto, and residing in Mississauga, Collingwood and Thornbury, she is survived by her children, Melanie (Mark) and Jason (Tanya); her grandchildren, Cullen, Jack, Kiera, Laine and Megan. Marilyn’s early days in Toronto were spent dancing at local churches, live bands and at Wasaga beach with the love of her life, Bernie, and their group friends. Marilyn and Bernie spent their married life in Mississauga while coming to Collingwood to ski on the weekends with all her friends (Carol and Ernie). After the passing of Bernie, her affection for Collingwood and the surrounding area led to her retirement at her lakefront cottage (home), and then to Thornbury, where the many social gatherings (Canada Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) defined Marilyn’s love and graciousness for all that were a part of her life. Marilyn will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, who was an insightful table confidant, with a wonderful sense of humor, positive outlook, and incredible resilience. She lived with grace and an open heart and made the world around her a better place. A service will be held at St. Christopher’s Church in Clarkson on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a burial service at Clarkson Cemetery. Donations to the Meaford Hospital Foundation are appreciated in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
