Bonnie Mayer
February 7, 1954 – August 3, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bonnie Frances Mayer (née Banks) of Owen Sound, Ontario, on August 3, 2025, at the age of 71.
Born in Toronto on February 7, 1954, Bonnie was the beloved daughter of the late Ivy (née Best) and Frank Banks. She had a creative and imaginative spirit, finding joy in playing guitar, knitting, crocheting, and quilting. Her beautiful handmade creations will be missed and cherished by all who were lucky enough to receive them.
Bonnie was a lifelong fan of science fiction, especially Star Trek, and was a gifted storyteller who could captivate friends and family with her tales. She also loved playing cards—particularly euchre and canasta—which brought her countless hours of fun and friendly competition with loved ones. She had many dear friends across British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Ontario who will miss her deeply.
She is survived by her children, Robin Wood (Scott), Micheline Burrows (Kenneth), and Peter Zammit (Nicole), and her grandchildren, Julia, Jeremy, Allison, and Andria. She was predeceased by her parents, Ivy and Frank, and her cousin Dorothy Cook.
Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held during the week of August 25, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local SPCA shelter in your area in Bonnie’s name.
Her family will forever treasure the love, laughter, and creativity she shared with the world.
