Shirley Currie

Shirley Margaret Jean “McTeer” Currie passed away on September 4, 2025 at Wingham Hospital with family by her side at the age of 77.

Survived by her son Bob (Cheryl) and daughter Robbin. Special Grandmother to Jess (Tyler), Sean (Gabi) and Emily Jean. Great Grandmother to Jillian. Also survived by in laws John Turnbull, Rhonda Green and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her spouse Bob Sr (2021), her parents Harold McTeer (2003) and Jennie Irene “Mooney” (1979), all of her brothers and sisters Wayne (1994), Gladys (2021), Glen (2014), Keith (2020), Linda (2008) and Lorne (1990) and her niece Erin (2023).

Shirley was a nurse at Walkerton Hospital for over 30 years. Following her retirement from the hospital she worked for CarePartners for another five years. While semi-retired she spent time with her grandchildren and continued to volunteer at the Paisley Legion where she was a valued lifetime member of the legion and Ladies Auxiliary.

We would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses on the Second floor at Wingham Hospital for their exceptional care and special thanks to Mary Ann Martindale for going above and beyond for Shirley, we can’t thank you enough.

All are welcome to Celebrate Shirley at the Royal Canadian Legion, Paisley on Saturday, October 11th from 1 – 4 p.m. with a service from 1:00 -1:30 p.m. Interment will be with family at a later date at Purdy’s Cemetery.  Memorial donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Paisley Branch # 295.
