Sally Carruthers
On October 4, 2025, Sally Margaret Carruthers (née Kellough, 1941), at peace, breathed her last. Many thanks, especially to the nurses, at Owen Sound and London Hospitals, Lee Manor and Gateway Haven. A former teacher, librarian, hospital volunteer and St. John Ambulance Instructor volunteer; alto chorister, barefoot bibliophile and word maven; she loved friends and family, swimmin’ and stridin’ … and ‘perfect’. Remembered with love by family, friends and students; sons Cam (Alexis) and Tom (April); niece Tracey Irwin (Shawne), nephew Jason Irwin (Lydia); granddaughters Aurora and Freya (‘to the moon’); grandsons ‘TJ’ Tom Jr (Kara), Joe (Kersti) and Andrew (Jessica); great-grandson James. Predeceased by husband and beloved dance partner Rick Carruthers; parents Earle and Geraldine Kellough; sister Carolyn Irwin (Paul) and brother Bob Kellough (all of Grey & Bruce). She never wanted a funeral – she’d rather be reading – but liked the voyage metaphor of a wake. Literally. To draw near in spirit, just raise a book! Donations to the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library or Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Foundation would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
