Robert James Schleich (RJ)
February 2, 1946 – December 18, 2025
RJ was my perfect husband. We were together for 32 years and married for 25 years.
He was a character with a great sense of humour. He was loving and supportive. He had many passions- family, critters, being Santa, developing websites, radio DJ and so much more.
We talked about everything. We shared everything. Each day was a gift. After his heart surgery January 24, 2023, he fought long and hard through hospital stays, congestive heart failure, infections and delirium. The first stay was 70 days: the next 6 months. When he came home May 10, 2024, his body was weak, but it didn’t stop him from enjoying our time together. We shared so many special moments.
December 18, 2025 he passed away in my arms at Chapman House Hospice. He was surrounded by love from family and friends leading up to his death.
32 years doesn’t seem like enough time to have spent with someone so wonderful.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Owen Sound Hospital for their care of him.
We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers at Chapman House Hospice for providing such a wonderful setting and excellent care for his last days on earth.
RJ gave so much of himself during his lifetime. The world lost a great one.
RJ is survived by Heather; Tammy, Mike, Corey, Becca, Gabby, Zachary; Lisa, Jacob, Elora, Ryan; Brad, Emma, Riley and Andi. He is also survived by many siblings, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by Jason, baby David, siblings and siblings in law.
Thanks to everyone for their prayers and support during our journey.
In the summer we will have a celebration of life for RJ at our farm, Tales by the Brook.
If desired memorial contributions to the amazing Chapman House Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
