Robert Henderson
Robert Wayne Henderson passed away peacefully at the age of 83 at Owen Sound Hospital on December 31, 2025.
Robert Henderson of Lion’s Head, Ontario. Beloved husband of 55 years of his best friend, the late Georgette Henderson (nee Laroche) and cherished father of Jason (Lori) and Gina (Jodie) all of Windsor. Much loved grandfather or Poppa of Sophie Henderson and his “grandbitties”. Dear brother of the late Nancy Lazor (Yan) of Toronto. Predeceased by parents Olive (nee Gray) and Wayne Henderson
Robert lived most of his life in Windsor. He was first employed as a model maker at Industrial Models for may years until moving on to Active Burgess and finally at Peter Anthony. When he was not working on a new project at the house, he could be found along the side lines of their daughter’s baseball games cheering louder than anyone else.
The family would regularly vacation in Bruce County at Tanglewood cottages where they met many friends that became extended family over the years. After his retirement he and Georgette made a permanent move to Lion’s Head so they could vacation year round. While living there he was able to expand his extended family and friends list when he became a member of Lion’s Head Friendship Club and a member of the Barrow Bay sports fishing association and volunteered in its annual fish fry dinners.
Along with spending time with his family and friends in the Bruce, he enjoyed making regular trips back to Merlin, Ontario to reminisce with “the cousins ” and try to make as many of the weekly coffee get-togethers in Windsor with his old work buddies known as “the coffee guys” where they would tell the same old stories that would crack them all up every time. Otherwise he would enjoy cigars on the back deck in the warmer months or watching British murder mysteries or his “car shows” with Georgette in their cozy chairs near the fireplace during the colder months.
As per Robert’s wishes there is no formal service to follow his passing. Instead, a ‘Celebration of Life’ memorial weekend is planned for the spring of 2026 details of which will be released at a later date. Until then think of him humming along with Dido’s “White Flag” when it comes on the radio or clearing the floor to dance with Georgette to “The Lady in Red” when next you hear it. Until then he will be making sure the candy jars are filled up at the yellow house on Main Street in case company stops by.
