March 10, 1947 – January 30, 2026.

With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Linda Rose Wood.

Linda understood something many of us spend a lifetime searching for: that joy lives in simplicity — in the soil beneath her hands, in quiet moments spent fishing, and in the steady rhythm of nature all around her.

We offer heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who made time to be with her, whether by checking in with a phone call or stopping by to visit while she was at home or at Chapman House. Each moment mattered — the time taken to call, to sit beside her, to hold her hand, and to share memories, laughter, and tears. Those who reached out when it would have been easier to stay silent showed profound love. Your voices carried reassurance and truth, and your presence during this part of her journey gave her comfort beyond words. We are forever grateful for the joy this brought her.

In her final weeks at Chapman House, Linda was surrounded by love — and that mattered deeply.

For the past 14 years, Linda’s work as a driver for the Amish and Mennonite communities brought her a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. Through those connections, she gained an abundance of life, friendship, and meaning — gifts so rich that simple thanks can never fully express what they gave her in return. Through those relationships, Linda’s strength, kindness, and unwavering spirit live on.

Linda was predeceased by her beloved parents, Edith and Arthur; her brother, Art; her cherished children, Sean and Shannan; and her dear grandson, Shawn. We take comfort in imagining their reunion — a long-awaited embrace, whole and free again.

She leaves behind those who will carry her love forward: her forever-loving daughter, Shondi; her treasured granddaughters, Taylor and Jessica; and her dear sister, Barb. Linda’s love, devotion, and humor were unwavering. She found beauty in the ordinary and meaning in service. Though her physical presence has left us, her essence remains — in gardens still growing, in quiet waters, in open skies, and in the hearts of all who truly knew her.

May we honor her by living a little more freely, laughing a little more often, loving a little more deeply, and remembering that the simplest joys are often the most profound.

Rest peacefully, Momma.
You are deeply loved.
You are deeply missed.
You will never be forgotten.
