Richard Culpeper Hons B.A., L.L.B., M.A.
Following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s, Richard Clark Culpeper of Owen Sound and formerly of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on March 11, 2026, at age 65. Richard was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Lee who welcomed their beloved boy January 1961, his Aunt Betty Clark and Uncle Frank Culpeper. He is survived by his sister Jennifer, Aunt Laurel and Culpeper cousins, Uncle Gord, Aunt Joan and Clark cousins, his Northern family Anna, Tara and Rita and many friends. The only thing he loved more than being a Lawyer was the outdoors and Buddy the cat. Canoeing, kayaking and coaching the Dragons of Hope team during warmer seasons, then onto his biggest passion skiing. He was a member of the National Telemark Ski Team in the 90’s and found pure joy at Loch Lomond, Thunder Bay. Other hobbies included the Sudbury Canoe Club, the Wilderness Canoe Association, drumming in the Owen Sound City Band and cycling. A funeral service will be held at Georgian Shores United Church, Owen Sound on Saturday March 28th at 12:00 noon with visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society of Grey-Bruce are welcome.
