James Gerber

James Russell Gerber passed away at the Hanover and District Hospital on March 27, 2026 at the age of 80.

Jim will be deeply missed by his daughters Kim Gerber of Hanover and Amanda Gerber of Clifford; his beloved grandchildren Larsen (Grace Murakami), Danielle Lorenz, Brooke Lorenz and Kaleb Lefebvre; his brother William Gerber of Guelph; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Ethel (Smith) Gerber, brothers John, Gerald, Vern and Kenneth and sisters Rosetta Hewitt and Helen Knarr.

Jim was a true jack of all trades. He had a passion for fixing and painting vehicles and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. His kindness often came full circle, as others were always ready to help him in return. He will be remembered for his loud, chuckling laugh and the smile that was almost always on his face. One memory his grandchildren will always cherish is his habit of taking a big breath and saying “Oh yeaaahhh”.

Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
