It is with heavy hearts we share the sudden passing of Ryan on the morning of Friday, March 27, 2026 at the age of 41 years.

Ryan has left behind his wife of 5 months, Jennifer (Asuncion) and stepdaughter McJerleen (MJ). Son of Sherrie and Gary Casemore of Port Elgin. Manugangnalalaki of ErLinda and Macario Asuncion of The Philippines. “Kuya” Ryan as he was called by his Filipino friends and family. Ryan is also survived by his brother Tyler (Stephanie) and niece Eleanor (Ellie) of Cumberland, BC. First grandchild of Ruth and Mitt Casemore of Owen Sound and the late Helen and Ken Taylor of Waverly Heights. Nephew of Dave Taylor of Owen Sound, Fran and John Brown of Tara and Michele and Greg Casemore of Owen Sound. Predeceased by his uncle Tracy. Ryan was loved and will be missed by many great aunts and uncles and cousins.

Ryan’s most recent work was that of service through his position as a Crisis and Addiction Outreach Worker at Saugeen First Nation. He was of the belief that “everyone” deserved a chance. He was the catalyst to start NA meetings in Port Elgin, serving surrounding areas and attending AA meetings, nurturing friendships and fellowship in the process. You could hear him say “Keep on Keeping on”. He was honoured to be invited to a ceremony held at Saugeen First Nation, something that moved him deeply. He was employed by Freshmart and Valumart learning the meat cutting trade. His last stop was at Independent Grocers. He was an accomplished student of this trade and had customers looking for him to receive his tips and tricks to make their meals better. Sadly due to his battle with Myotonic Dystrophy he had to move on from that career.

Most of you know Ryan was a fierce library of many things sports. He played hockey and lacrosse. He was gifted with sports vision and he finished his sports career playing Jr B with the Dutchmen. Loved every minute and had hoped he could continue in some capacity eventually.

As in Jenn’s words … “He was a loving, caring, selfless man who touched so many lives. Never lost the love of cheering his Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays on Sportsnet. He found joy in the simple/meaningful things; a sunset, cooking a good steak, fishing, golfing, going on little adventures despite his illness. Ryan stayed strong and continued to embrace life. He would video call my parents in The Philippines and greet them with Hi nanay and tatay, he was trying to learn tagalog as well. He supported my daughter in her taekwondo journey and couldn’t wait to meet her in person. I have so many memories too many to share and I miss you more than words can even express. I will carry you with me in everything I do. You will always be my greatest love. No more pain my Love. Rest peacefully until we meet again. Forever Yours…”

A Celebration of Life in Ryan’s honour will be held at Lakeshore Recreation, 1177 Goderich Street, Port Elgin on Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 1 – 4 p.m. All who knew and loved him are welcome to join us to remember.

Bring any written memories of Ryan with you to the celebration as a book will be provided in order to leave the memories with the family.
