Wendy Parry

Wendy Parry portrait

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wendy Parry (née Mountain). She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Huron Shores Hospice on April 23, 2026, at the age of 69, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Wendy was born on March 7, 1957 in Hamilton, Ontario, where she was raised and later made her home in Tiverton with her loving husband Dave. She was a beloved member of her community, known for her kindness, warmth, humour and quiet strength. Wendy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

Wendy spent many years as a member and contributing to the Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church as Sunday School Superintendent. In years past, she also enjoyed her time clogging, bowling, sewing, gardening with her dog Pepper by her side, playing softball and volleyball and was a gifted member of the Kincardine Quilt Guild. Her beautiful sewing projects were known to win many ribbons at the Tiverton Fall Fairs. She was a talented snare dummer in the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band and loved her band family.

She was an incredible mother. She was a constant source of love, guidance and strength to her daughters. The values she instilled will carry on through her children and grandchildren.

Over the past nineteen years, being a Gramma brought her immense joy. Whether it was offering her grandchildren a cozy lap to cuddle up in or playing cheerleader from the sidelines of their various sports and activities, she soaked up every second of it.

Wendy had a sweet sense of humour, loving to play innocent practical jokes to see her target laugh, and she shared that friendly wit right to the end. She was also an avid thrift shopper and loved the thrill of the hunt. Wendy found her greatest joy, though, in time spent with her family. Her happy place was at the family trailer on the canal at Fisherman’s Cove, where countless treasured memories (and s’mores) were made.

She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her devoted husband, Dave Parry of Tiverton, with whom she would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this year; her children Laurie Moffatt (Devin) of Tiverton, Sandra Parry (Derek Mullen) of Tiverton, Christine Parry (Jay Maerz) of Wingham and Marlene Martini (Joe) of Tara; and her cherished grandchildren, Layla, Cooper, Alex, Connor, Robin, Abby, Tyler, Emma, Lucas, and Owen. Wendy is predeceased by her loving parents, Vera and Earl Mountain, and her in-laws, Helen and William Parry. Wendy is also survived by her brothers Jeff Mountain (late Charlene) of Dornoch and Wayne Mountain (late Beverly) of Hanover; her beloved in-laws Doug Parry of Hamilton, Carol Brown (late David) of Hamilton, Robert Parry of Hamilton, the late Allister Parry (Lori Crisp) of Hamilton, Beverly Pitt (Ernie) of Mount Hope, Chris Parry (Corinne) of Hamilton, Janice Parry of Chalk River, and Catharine Parry of Hamilton. She will be fondly remembered by her many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her love of family, and her deep connection to her community. Wendy’s presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.

A come-and-go Celebration of Life will be held on May 23, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Whitney Crawford Community Centre in Tiverton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Wendy’s memory may be made to the Huron Shores Hospice, whose compassionate care and support meant so much to her and her family, or to the Wingham & District Hospital – Oncology Unit.

Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
