Lake-Huron-Sunset-Picture

September 12, 1954 – October 3, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Glenn (Don/Donnie) McCoy on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, with both hands held, and hugs from family as he passed. Devoted to his love of the outdoors, and brother to Leslie Richard McCoy-predeceased (Darlene) of Branchton, Ronald McCoy-predeceased, Sheila McCoy of Preston, Edward McCoy-predeceased (Janet) of Cambridge, Sharon Leger (Al-predeceased) of Vienna, Sandra Fournier (Rod-predeceased) of Kitchener, Thomas McCoy-predeceased, Kenneth McCoy (Trish) of Port Rowan, Mark McCoy (Julie) of Rockton. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and the family friends to 4 wheel and explore on his property.

He started working with the Humane Society in his younger years and then as line worker at Franklin Manufacturing until it closed in the late 80’s.   He had enough of the busy life, too many people, and noise!!  He bought his little piece of paradise in Pike’s Bay, where he lived a quiet life.  He helped out whenever he could for people in the community and they helped him which he greatly appreciated.

Family, friends, and many a boy’s weekend were spent enjoying his company and property.  Although he made out that he didn’t want people there, the truth was he was always sad to see everyone leave!

Many thanks to all that helped get him the care he needed at the beginning of the year!  It allowed him to have a second chance at life for a while.  He allowed the real caring Don to come out, he learned to love hugs, and was very caring and loving!

In his last days he spent at John Joesph Place in Owen Sound where he made friends which he will greatly miss.  Many thanks to all the staff at JJP who cared for him, he wasn’t always easy, but they were amazing to him.

He had friends that were like family to him coming to show their love as he passed.  Thank you all for your love.

Thank you to the staff at Owen Sound Hospital for making his final wish happen and stopped the pain.

Cremation has taken place. Celebrations of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.

Condolences for Donald McCoy
