Mom was born November 12, 1925, Highgate Hill, London, England the only child of Augustus and Jessie (nee Burton) Peppercorn. In the fall of 1946 she came to Canada as a young war bride eager to meet her husband’s family. She was a very determined lady taking care of her home and three children as well as working part time. She was a cub leader, assisted with the Young Peoples Group at St. Georges Church, Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 6. Mom will be sadly missed by her three children Gail (Gerry Lorenz), Eric (Terry) and Penny (Marvin Lagace), five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves 4 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law, nieces and nephews and her cousins in England. In accordance with Violet’s wishes there will be no formal service. Her children will lay her to rest alongside her husband, Ellis (2006) in Lakeside Cemetery, Meaford, Ontario at a later date.
The family thanks the wonderful staff at Summit Place who provided love and support to our Mother for the last 13 years. (apartment, Lodge and for the past two years in Long Term Care.) We especially appreciate her nursing angels, her cheerful visits from friends and family, pastoral visits and the special care Dr. Veenstra provided. Thank you to the staff of the 6th floor at Owen Sound Hospital for making Mom comfortable in her final journey.
In memory of Violet please treat one another kindly.
Rest in peace.
