Robert Mercer

Passed away peacefully at The Village Seniors Community in Hanover on March 11, 2018.  Bob will be sadly missed by his loving partner Lynn Armstrong, son Bill (Carla) and daughters Robin (Jon) and Patricia.  He was predeceased by his daughter Sheena in 2013.  Bob will also be fondly remembered by his brother Don (Sybil) and his many grandchildren.  Born in Markdale in 1936, Bob grew up playing sports of all description.  His keen sense of coordination and agility proved to be an asset in future endeavors.  He rose to the rank of Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces where he became a pilot.  He also won awards while representing the Canadian Forces in international shooting competitions.  After graduating from the University of Western Ontario, Bob became a fixture on the staff at J.D.S.S. in Hanover.  A well respected Phys Ed teacher and coach of the football team, he was able to share his love of sports with hundreds of students over the years.  The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the exceptional staff at the Village Seniors Home.  A private family service will be held at a future date.  Online condolences may be made at www.greybrucecremation.com.
