Catherine Louise Bell (née Elvidge) passed away peacefully at Rockwood Terrace in Durham on January 13, 2023, in her 88th year. Catherine was born in Durham and was the daughter of the late Irving and Elvin (née Schutz) Elvidge. Beloved wife of the late John Miller Bell. Loving mother of Ruth McPhail of Durham, Heather and her husband Bjorn Andersen of Brick, New Jersey and Derek Bell of Walkerton. Devoted grandma of Laura and her husband Travis Braeker, Julie McPhail and Jeane and Sonja Andersen and dear great grandma of Sophie Braeker. Also survived by her sister-in-law Ruth Falconer and brother-in-law Ronald Bell. Catherine will be sadly missed by her extended family and close friends. Predeceased by her brother Clare Elvidge, son-in-law Stuart McPhail and brothers-in-law Doug Falconer and Norman Bell and his wife Shirley. A funeral service for Catherine will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 151 Chester Street East, Durham on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation prior to the service from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Spring interment in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Durham. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Society, Community Living Walkerton and District or Rockwood Terrace would be appreciated.
