Lawrence (Larry) O’Connor
September 12, 1929 – June 1, 2023
With saddened hearts we announce the death of our father at 93 years of age following a lengthy illness. Dad passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Lorraine (née Jarvis) and loving father of Terri (Debra Rodgers), Debi, Lori (Tom Harrington), Patricia (Robert McPherson), Jo-ann, Leo (Wendy), Susan (Tony DiBratto) and Colleen (Calvin Fujita). He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his son James. Dad was born to Guy Francis and Catherine Emma (Cunningham) and raised on a farm in Milford Haven Bridge, Guysborough County, Nova Scotia with three sisters and eleven brothers, all predeceased. He spent his youth working on the farm, hunting and fishing. He moved to Creighton Mine in Ontario to work for Inco where he met and married Mom. Those who knew him would agree that he was always hard at work and devoted to his family. In addition to building our home by his own hand he was involved in the Scouts and held a seat on the Township Council. He helped all of his children with their home projects and renovations. He was an avid hockey fan and was passionate about reading Canadian history. Through all of this, he would have a beloved Sheltie by his side. The family would like to thank Dr. Hodgson for her wonderful and compassionate care. And special thanks to the family in Nova Scotia who kept him up to date with news from home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Dad will be interred at the Waters Cemetery in Sudbury. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Southern Ontario Sheltie Rescue Society sosr.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.
