Marlaine Elvidge

Marlaine Rita Elvidge (nee Caissey) passed away peacefully on 20 March 2024, aged 78 years.  Beloved wife of Clifton Edward Elvidge.  Devoted mother/mother-in-law/loving friend of Narda, Marc, Annetta, Myla and Lorena.  Loving Granny of Connor and Savanna.  Also survived by her two sisters Rita and Phyllis. Predeceased by her mother Rita, father Philip, sister Sharon, and brothers Graham and Phil Jr.

Her love of reading evolved into a position with the Durham Public Library.  She started working at the Durham Library in 1975, eventually becoming Chief Librarian of the West Grey Public Library System until her retirement in 2011.  Whether it was inspiring others, being exposed to new ideas, teaching the community, or just the satisfaction of a well organized bookshelf, Marlaine experienced an infinite amount of love for her libraries and their patrons. Marlaine was an alumni member of the Durham District High School Trumpet Band, and took part in the 2012 Durham Homecoming Parade.

Visitation and funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church in Durham on Monday March 25, 2024.  Visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the funeral service at 2 p.m.  Light refreshments will be held in the church hall.  Interment Trinity Anglican Cemetery. Durham.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Trinity Anglican Church, Trinity ACW or Trinity Anglican Cemetery would be gratefully accepted and can be made through Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, www.greybrucecremation.com.
