Martin (Marty) Power

It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Martin (Marty) Patrick Joseph Power, on March 27th, 2024. Beloved husband of 43 years to Debbianne, proud father to Calissa and Cody and his wife Rachel Seaman and loving grandfather to Torryn and Stetson.  Son of the late Leo and Kathleen Power and brother to Janet Fitzpatrick (Dick), Caroline Norcott, Rosalind Critchell (Rick), Maxine Doorn, and Brian Power (Nancy) and brother-in-law to Debbie Power, Brenda Legrand (Ron), Delynne Gates and Diane Foreman (Scott). Uncle to 19 nieces and nephews and still counting the greats. Marty was predeceased by his sister Rosemarie, brother Fred and granddaughter Anastasia.

Marty was born September 11th, 1955 on Bell Island, Newfoundland and moved with his family to Owen Sound, Ontario when he was 11. His teen years were spent fishing at Harrison Park and rollerskating at Sauble Beach. He called himself a jack of all trades, master of none, with the bulk of his working years spent with the Town of Saugeen Shores Works Department. He cherished his friendships with his coworkers and his much loved sidewalk plow. He often said “Don’t tell anyone, but I’d do this for nothin'”.  Marty, a big man with an even bigger personality! Buddy, you are going to be missed! And for those who knew him best, “Get a job, yah bum!”  A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at the Lakeshore Racquetball Club, 1177 Goderich St., Port Elgin from 1 – 3 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services.
