Donald Duquette
Peacefully wrapped in the love of his family and known for his perpetual smile, Donald William Duquette (Papa) passed away September 3, 2024. Donald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maureen (Popelier) Duquette, and his children Daniel, Kimberly (Glenn) and Renee. Also survived by his grandchildren Andrew (Lisa), Tyler (Sarah), Travis (Becky), Danielle (Aaron), Nicholas (Sam), Ben, Tori (Cam), Maria (Cory) and Dylan (Apple), six adored great grandchildren Seth, Olivia, Riley, Max, Sylvie and Owen and by siblings Clarence Duquette and Diane DeKort. Predeceased by infant son Dwayne, parents Alcide and Dorothy Duquette (née Faubert) and by siblings Richard, Maurice, Edmond (Carol) and Robert (Nancy). Known to all as Papa, he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had many accomplishments in his life, volunteer firefighter, chemical operator, heavy equipment operator and more. He loved his newspaper, educational nature shows and his iPad. He loved people and could fit in any crowd and in his younger days fishing and hunting. His legacy to us all was his belief, “there is always hope, never give up”. The care, compassion and love shown to our Papa in Hanover Hospital and London Victoria Hospital will never be forgotten. A private family service will be held at a later date for immediate family. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Kidney Foundation, Diabetes Canada or the Hanover and District Hospital Foundation in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
