Dianna Elvidge
It is with great sadness and relief we announce the passing of our mother, Dianna Louise (Shaw) Elvidge, on January 20, 2025 in her 93rd year. Mom suffered for the last several years with Alzheimer’s. Unfortunately, Mom did not know who we were for the last few years and really struggled this past year. Such a terrible disease, we are so relieved her suffering is over.
Dianna passed away peacefully at Rockwood Terrace surrounded by her family near and afar via FaceTime. Also, her Rockwood family who were there in her final hours by her side.
Dianna was born November 11, 1932 in Windsor, Ontario. Daughter of the late Aurice and Herbert Shaw.
Dianna and Bill had four children: Kenneth, Narcia, Bill and Katharine.
– Kenneth Elvidge (Rose): Rob, (Kari), Fiona, and Jesse. Christie, (Michael), (Ambrylee, Nevaeh, Devi) and Ashtyn. Joey and (Jenna). Josh and (Jenna). Daughter- in-law Susie.
– Narcia Watson (Russell): Jamie, Payton and Roin. Sean’s daughters Teagan and Iva-Jean. Matthew, (Lucretia) and Madisyn.
– Bill Elvidge Jr. (Marie): Jill, (Cody), Curtis, (Bridgette), Rachel and (Clayton). Dana, (Trevor), Ava and Drew.
– Katharine McDonald-Gies (Arnold): Paul, (Jennifer), Liam, (Hannah), Rylan and (Gracie). Adam, (Kirsten), Julian, Lucian, Khail, (Brianna) Hazel, Belle and (Seth). Tyler, (Ashley), Madison and Dylan. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by her husband William Elvidge and his parents Greeta and Eric Elvidge, grandson Sean Watson, sister Dorothy Demarce, sons-in-law Keith McDonald and Jim Watson.
Dianna worked mostly as a homemaker. After her children grew up she worked at Orion Veneer Durham, Zehrs in Hanover, and the Durham Hospital Kitchen. Mom loved making crafts, gifted at sewing and an amazing cook. Most of all spending time with family. We will truly miss the matriarch of our family.
