Roy Kelly

Roy Kelly, in his eighty sixth year, passed away peacefully on Monday January 27, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years Aase and a dear family friend Heath Needles.

Roy will be sadly missed by his children John Kelly (Linda), Mark Kelly (Juanita), David Kelly (Sharon), John Hjort (Rhonda), Elizabeth McCarron (Terry), Ken Hjort, Linda Hjort as well as his 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Roy will also be missed by his surviving siblings, many nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Roy was a man who loved to work and build things with his hands and could make anything from scratch. His passion in life was horse back riding and he loved to entertain his family and friends with his guitar and song. He was a true cowboy.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the caring staff who helped Aase care for Roy in his last few weeks where Roy was bedridden. It took a team of his Doctor, Nurses, medi care and PSWs. Thank you. His last few days were spent at Chapman House in Owen Sound. We could not have asked for more caring people to help care for Roy.

As per Roy’s request there will be no funeral service, but the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.  Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
