David “Dave” “Balls” Tyliszczak passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on May 4, 2026. He was born on September 21, 1951, in Hanover, Ontario.

Beloved high school sweetheart and husband of 50 years, 5 months, and 18 days to the late Susan “Sue” Tyliszczak (née Gould). Loving father and best buddy to Robert (Rob) Tyliszczak of Chatsworth. Father to Jennifer Sammut (Chris) and cherished papa to his grandchildren, Kiera and Rhys of London. Dear brother of Peter (Connie), Maryann (John) and Jamie (Norma). Dave was predeceased by his mother Dorothy, his father Peter and his beloved brother Donald. Dave will be deeply missed by all his nieces and nephews, his “bingo baddies”, friends, neighbours, and especially his beloved feline companion, Charlotte, as well as his granddog Nova and grandcat Theo.

Dave will be remembered for his spirited personality, quick wit, and ability to find humour in any situation. He enjoyed participating in many shenanigans.  He enjoyed his twice-weekly bingo nights, a warm morning coffee from Tim Hortons and celebrating holidays and milestones with family and friends at the Mandarin Restaurant. Above all, Dave treasured time spent with the people he loved. It brings us comfort to imagine that he and Sue are reunited, enjoying a long drive through the countryside, in his blue mustang, sharing stories, big, bold laughter, and some cigarettes.

In keeping with Dave’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In place of a funeral, a Joint Celebration of the Lives honouring both Dave and Sue will be held at Best Western Inn On The Bay on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided. To celebrate their lives, the theme is spring, joy, and laughter. Guests are invited to wear spring attire and be prepared to come and share your best stories of Dave and Sue, showcasing their love of life.

In place of gifts or flowers, please consider a donation to Chapman House Hospice in their names, or just purchase Chapman’s products to support a great company and facility. Thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, support staff, and volunteers for going above and beyond, for both Dave and Sue, making their last days as comfortable and peaceful as possible with the utmost dignity.

Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
