Adam Glass

Georgian Bay

April 4, 1927 – June 4, 2026

Devoted husband of Margaret Hughes (deceased) and Lynne Cox. Father of Iain (Elizabeth), David (Susan, deceased) and Nancy.  Energetic grandfather to Kenneth (Lauren), Catherine (Robert) and David, Jimmy and Sarah, Robyna (Jordan) and Erika (Kevin). Great grandfather of Cooper. Survived by his brother David and sister Catherine.  Fondly remembered by the extended Cox family.

Adam was born in Glasgow, Scotland, one of eight children. He emigrated to Canada as a War Guest with two younger brothers David and Jim. In 1940, they travelled on the Duchess of York, taking a perilous North Atlantic route with a Royal Navy escort.  Adam was a Graduate of Dunnville Secondary School, the University of Toronto, and University of Waterloo. He taught high school with a focus on mathematics at the Owen Sound Collegiate and Vocational Institute.  Adam had an amazing ability to recognize former students from many generations by face or name.

Good student and athlete, bagpiper, Georgian Bay sailor, skier, skilled angler and outdoorsman, often with a dog in tow, adventurous traveler, toy maker, cryptic crossword enthusiast and witty storyteller, Adam was a true renaissance man who lived life to the fullest on his own terms. A remarkable man who led a remarkable life.

‘Better to be lucky than good’, great to be both.

A memorial service will be held later in the year. Arrangements entrusted to Grey Bruce Cremation and Burial Services, greybrucecremation.com.
